About
My best introduction is my first blog entry…
So I am sitting here right now in my living room at 9:40pm on a Thursday and I am writing this blog entry wondering what exactly am I doing? I am watching The Celebrity Apprentice and wonder just who will win – my money’s on Piers, but I think Trace has a pretty good shot. I keep thinking to my self, what am I doing? Why am I starting this blog? Who will care and who won’t?
I plan on writing about what’s going on and what’s not. Who’s doing something and who wishes they did. This might be funny at times and it could even make some of you cry. Most of all I hope this will be an adventure into the fabric of complicated yet simple topics. This will be an adventure into a mind that wonders about the craziness of today while remembering the tragedies of yesterday and trying to understand just what might be happening tomorrow.
Though many of you will think I’m nuts at times this will be about September 11th. It will be about Iraq. It will talk about Hillary. It will resoundingly support Obama. Yes, I’ve jumped on his Bandwagon and I like the ride so far. This may even be about Florida and the hope that they don’t coerce our future by bringing back the hanging chad – I mean I hope they are not too upset that their delegates won’t be counted at the DNC.
It may be about nothing at all. I might talk about things that have nothing to do with politics and probably will link to things that don’t even have anything to do with things that don’t have anything to do with politics. What I mean is… This won’t always be about this and it might not even be about that and just when you think you understand me you’ll ask why?
And I know many of you are asking, “What the hell is Political Mangu?” Well. That’s a good question that I don’t even know the answer to, but I can say this.
Politics. We all know what that is. Or we think we know.
Mangu. Mangu is a delicious dish that is a staple in the Dominican community (I am a Dominican American by the way) – it’s made from mashed green plantains, though my mother at time made it with some ripe ones too, and is sometimes spruced up with bacon, salami (the Dominican type, not Genoa), or cheese (also the Dominican type, and usually fried).
Mangu defines a community. Mangu brings them together. Mangu is food.
Mangu in some ways is just like politics – think about it.
So… Welcome to my blog. Welcome to my world. Sit back. Relax. Enjoy.
