Latinos and all minorities alike are in a very unique position right now to help make change possible in the way our government functions and it is up to US to make it so.
All rhetoric aside, and all benign racist tendencies aside as I illustrate in my recent opinion on
why Latinos don’t vote for Barack Obama and as is well illustrated (perhaps more poignantly so) by the New America Media where the idea of, “
[t]he combination of the familiarity with Clinton and the still blurred notion of what Obama stands for remains a tormenting dilemma for him and the Democrats with Latino voters,” says commentator Earl Ofari Hutchinson, is bought up, Latinos and Minorities alike the world over MUST STAND UP now for what the future holds in store for us as a nation.
We can sit back and be bitter that Hillary is not the nominee for the Democratic party or we can stand up and show Washington that we can move beyond our differences and that we can get the right person into the White House. If we sit back and let ourselves sulk in the differences and bitterness we might as well just give up forever and let the usual White Anglo Alpha Male control the White House, the Legislature, and the SUPREME COURT.
Let’s educate our friends and family and DRIVE them to register and I mean literally if you have to, and let’s educate them on Barack Obama and what he means to US as a whole. So what? Latinos? He’s a “prieto” - would you rather have an old white guy that doesn’t give a damn about you in the White House? And I don’t mean this to sound like Barack’s the better of two evils or anything like that – I support Barack Obama wholeheartedly and he is the BEST CHOICE. PERIOD.
John McCain’s not going to help us get better jobs; he’s not going to help us get better Health Care; he’s not going to help us get our kids into and through school; he’s going to be more of the status quo and the status quo HAS to END NOW.
I am about to jump up and down and start chanting something cliche like, “Latinos United! Will Never Be Defeated!” But this isn’t some blah blah roohaha push to get us to vote – it’s an outright plead, because I know how hard it will be to get the MAJORITY of Latino’s out there to forget what they think and to identify with Barack Obama and I don’t want to continue sounding so “negative” but we MUST DO THIS.
Si Se Puede!
Yes We Can!
