The End Game…
So the end is near and many of us could not be happier about this? No? I certainly will be since today is the day when we all hope that the Democratic Party will choose it’s nominee to officially begin to tear apart John McCain.
I admire Hillary for hanging in there as long as she has, but I am a bit scorned at the idea that her selfishness has caused this contest to go so far. For months now the numbers have been against her and they continue to be – even today. The only thing that could save Hillary Clinton today is a complete and utter God sent miracle – where 100% of the Superdelegates left simply forget everything they’ve learned about her in the past 18 months and simply vote for her.
According to MSNBC, CNN, and all other news sources Obama needs roughly 17% of the remaining Superdelegates, while Hillary needs 84%. Again. Miracle. As things are right now.
After today’s contests in Montana and South Dakota, assuming most polls are correct, Obama will pick up a 55% split of remaining delegates – 17 to 14 that is. That would bring him withing 22.5 of winning the nomination, while Hillary would still need 184. There will be 204.5 Superdelegates as well at that point, and around 18-20 of those will be endorsing Obama today/early tomorrow.
So, with this final math, Obama will need just around 3 more Superdelegates to declare for him today/tomorrow and he’s the nominee.
So… Again? What is Hillary waiting for exactly? She’s made her case, but I guess she needs to go down in a blaze of glory. And we can only pray that she doesn’t turn nasty and take things to the Convention or worse sue the DNC for their decision this past Saturday, draw this out, take it to the Supreme Court, etc., etc.,
Well… Tonight will be the end of the end, and yet, the beginning of the beginning all at the same time.
