A More Perfect Union…
I wrote this a few days ago and emailed it to many of my friends. I thought it only appropriate to post here. Enjoy.
There’s a friend of mine out there that says that I’ve jumped on the “Obama Bandwagon” and I resent that in some ways, but understand why she said it. Jumping on the bandwagon is usually what people are said to be doing when they join a movement that seems to be much more powerful than other movements around it at the “last minute” and then try to act like they’ve been on the ride the whole time. Sorta like Knick’s fans that become Rockets or Lakers fans for an entire Post Season because the team’s are in the Post Season, and the Knick’s are usually where? (I’m a NY Knick’s Fan… I know…)
She’s right. I did jump on the Obama Bandwagon, but not because I was late, but because I was wondering when he’d show his true colors. In the beginning he wasn’t all that in my eyes, though he had my vote anyways. But after listening to his position on a number of issues and seeing how he didn’t claw back at Hillary Clinton everytime she tried to make him seem like he was Barack OSAMA, he gained more of my attention, while Hillary lost points -- not just because she reminds me way too much of Bill Clinton, but also because we don’t want another dynasty in the White House. What’s the point of elections if 2 or 3 families are going to control the House for our entire generation? But, let me not say that too loudly, right? What if? Obama…
But anyways, back to the topic at hand… Yesterday Obama gave a speech that I am sure most of you have heard about by now -- you’ve heard it, read it, or YouTubed it I hope… He made one of the most eloquent speeches I’ve EVER heard a politician make and as much as I don’t want to draw the comparison he reminded me of Kennedy… “Ask not…” Listen to the speech or read it… You will think the same way…
But you have to be ready to listen and give it some time. If you’re not hooked in the first 60 seconds of what he says then you won’t get the rest of it.
He begins the speech in a very powerful way and ends it with a note of Hope… And the belief that we CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!
You should see him give this speech…
